The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) has selected nine athletes to represent the country at the athletics World Cup slated for September in Greece, AFN Spokesman Ben Ahiante said here on Friday.
In a statement released in the capital Abuja, Ahiante said the athletes, four males and five females, were selected based on their performance at the just concluded African Championship in Mauritius.
He said the male athletes would participate in 100 meters, 200 meters and 4x100 meters relays.
The female athletes, he added, would contest in 100 meters hurdles, short put, 4x400 meters relays and 4x100 meters relays.
Nigeria won five gold, five silver and four bronze medals to place third at the African Championship in Mauritius.
