Disunity in Nigeria is yet to lead to the overthrow of Nigeria's government. This was contained in a US based paper, Beaver County Times. "Nigeria's kleptocracy could be overthrown at any time by guerrillas, not to mention the instability created by the Islamic/Christian divide that boils over from time to time," the paper's online edition said.

The paper further warned that the overthrow of Nigeria's government should not surprise anyone. The Nigeria incident follows a report “"Mapping sub-Saharan Africa's Future by experts from USA whose warning is not any different. This report predicts the death of over 20,000 people in Nigeria.

Nigeria's president, Olusengun Obasanjo circulated this report for the peace and stability of Nigeria.

"The most important would be the outright collapse of Nigeria. While currently Nigeria's leaders are locked in a bad marriage that all dislike but dare not leave, there are possibilities that could disrupt the precarious equilibrium in Abuja. The most important would be a junior officer coup that could destabilize the country to the extent that open warfare breaks out in many places in a sustained manner." the report reads in part.

The report further warned that instability in Nigeria would destabilize its neighbours."If Nigeria were to become a failed state, it could drag down a large part of the west African region. Even state failure in small countries such as Liberia has the effect of destabilizing entire neighborhoods. If millions were to flee a collapsed Nigeria, the surrounding countries up to and including Ghana would be destabilized, the report says.
