Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Lagos State has warned against replicating the massive fraud that allegedly characterized the 2003 general elections in future elections even as he cautioned the police not to take side otherwise, the opposition would have no choice but to establish its own police.
"If the police is used against us, we will form our own police and use it to defend ourselves. We have the right to defend ourselves," said Tinubu.
This comes as Islamic Shiite leader, Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky, warned that the planned plot to extend the tenure the of the present administration beyond 2007 could engender ethno-tribal wars across the country, comparable to incidents in Rwanda and Burundi.
